What exactly is double-layer construction?
It's a proven technology with well over ten years of market presence. These boards last the longest. They are labour-intensive, so they are costly to produce. Note the primary difference between double-layer construction and lesser constructions like fusion and single-layer is the thickness of the top and bottom deck. Where double layer construction has a deck thickness of roughly 2.2mm, fusion has a deck thickness of ~1.4mm, and a single layer has a deck thickness of ~0.7mm. That's essentially where the product weight difference comes from.
